Self-love

“The whole of evil is only self-love, called ‘egoism,’ since it is opposite in form from the Creator, who has no desire to receive anything for Himself, but only to bestow.”

Love thy neighbor as thyself

“Here before us is a clear law (Halacha), that in all 612 precepts and all the writings in the Torah there is none that is preferred to ‘love thy neighbor as thyself,’ because they only aim to interpret and allow us to observe the precept of loving our neighbor unreservedly.”

One thing common to all

“We see that there is one thing that is common to all—the spirit. It is said, ‘A concern in one’s heart, let him speak of it with others.’ This is because with regard to feeling high-spirited, neither wealth nor erudition can be of assistance. Rather, it is one person who can help another… It turns out that each and every one must pay attention and think, how he can help his friend, uplift his spirit, because regarding one’s spirit, anyone can find a needy place in one’s friend, which he can fulfill.”

Buying love

“We must know that love is bought through actions. By giving presents to one’s friend, each gift is like an arrow and a bullet, making holes in one’s friend’s heart. And even though one’s friend’s heart is like a stone, still, each bullet makes a hole. And from the accumulation of holes, a hollow is made, and the love of the giver enters that hollow. And the warmth of the love draws to it one’s friend’s sparks of love, and then from the two loves, a clothing of love is made, and this clothing covers them both.”

Strengthening the bond

A never-ending coupling

“But he must acknowledge in his soul that the Creator chases him just as much as he is chasing the Creator. And he must never forget that, even during the strongest longing. And when he remembers that the Creator chases and yearns to cleave unto to him as much as he does, too, he will always progress from strength to strength with yearning and craving, in a never ending Zivug (spiritual unity), which is the complete perfection of the soul’s power, until he is rewarded with love.”

The Wisdom of Kabbalah

Quotes of prominent Kabbalists

And he reasons all that “the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea (Isaiah 11, 9)”. Thus we see that the prophet conditions peace in the whole world with the filling of the whole world with the knowledge of G-d, just as we have said that the tough, egoistic resistance between people, along with deterioration in the international relationships, all these will not cease from the world by any human counsel under any conditions.

Our eyes can see how the poor sick turn over in dreadful pain, and humanity has already thrown itself to the extreme right as with Germany or to the extreme left, as with Russia, and not only did they not ease the pain, they have worsened the malady and agony and the voices rise up to the sky as we all know.

Therefore they have no counsel but to come to the acceptance of His burden, meaning that they aim their acts to the will of the Lord and to His purpose, as He had planned prior to creation. And when they do that, it is plain to see that with His work all envy and hatred will be abolished from mankind as I have shown above thus far, because then all members of humanity will unite into one body with one heart full of the knowledge of the Lord. Thus, world peace and the knowledge of G-d are one and the same thing.

Quotes of prominent Kabbalists

“Every basis for physical success is the measure of the unity of society, and the basis for the success of intelligence and knowledge, is the separation and disagreement among them.

It therefore turns out, that when mankind succeeds in the matter of success of the bodies, meaning by bringing them to the degree of complete love for the fellow man, all the bodies in the world will unite into a single body and a single heart. And only then will all the happiness intended for humanity will be revealed in all its glory.”

Quotes of prominent Kabbalists

“Even when one does not have the vessels, when one engages in this wisdom, mentioning the names of the Lights and the vessels related to one’s soul, they immediately shine upon us to a certain measure. However, they shine for him without clothing the interior of his soul for lack of the able vessels to receive them. Despite that, the illumination one receives time after time during the engagement draws upon one grace from above, imparting one with abundance of sanctity and purity, which bring one much closer to reaching perfection.”

The Bright One

The Bright One!

And from the Heavens He shines.

There—within the curtain of the screen.

The secret of the righteous is there made clear,

And Light and darkness shine together.

How good it is to delve in His deeds,

But beware not to reach out your hand for Him.

Then shall you hear Him, and so will you meet Him,

In the tower of might, the All Inclusive Name.

You shall relish in words of truth,

To speak untainted words.

And all you will see,

Your own eyes will see, and not a foreigner’s eye!
