There has been a lot of discussion about building a tunnel between England and France under the channel. Tenders are called and numerous submissions arrive, including one from Cohen and Green Contractors. Most submissions ask for $1+ billion, however, the Cohen and Green’s submission is only $50 million. The committee is astounded and wonders how it is possible to submit such a low price. They ask Cohen and Green to explain their low bid. Cohen replies: “It’s very simple. Both myself and Green, my partner from France, have a shovel. I start shoveling the tunnel from England and he starts shoveling the tunnel from France. Eventually, both of us meet in the center.” The committee members shake their heads incredulously and they say: “What if you miss the contact in the middle of the Channel?” Cohen replies cheerfully: “So then you’ll get two tunnels for the price of one!”
