The purpose of creation

“The whole desirable end for the Creator from the creation He had created is to delight His creatures, so they would know His greatness and His Trueness, and would receive all the abundance and pleasantness He had prepared for them.”

Today 2nd Av 5769 Little Mitzvos

Today 2nd Av, 5769 – “Little Mitzvos

Little Mitzvos Org

You may think, how does one little Mitzvo help . . .

Our times are calling out to us to do Teshuva, but it’s too hard for us to change our lives. Even when we try, we end up reverting back to nothing, everything as was. We MUST show HaShem that we are seeing the signs and that it means something to us.

In this way, when HaShem asks what did we did, we can reply “I took this on…”

You must not consider this “Little Mitzvos” as a replacement for the Shulchan Oruch – you must continue learning Halochos via mainstream Seforim and with Shiurim.

The Third Bais HaMikdash

In Musaf of Rosh Chodesh we say, “Mizbeiach Chadash B’Tzion Tachin U’BiAvodas Bais HaMikdash Nismach Kulanu”, a new Mizbei’ach should be built in Tzion and we will all rejoice in the avodah of the Bais HaMikdash. Why does it need to say we will “all” rejoice, of course we will all rejoice?

Rav Michel Stern in Iyun Tefila brings that at the dedication of the second Bias HaMikdash the young people rejoiced, while the old Kohanim cried. The young ones were delighted with their Bais HaMikdash but the older ones who remembered the first Bais HaMikdash cried over what this new Bais HaMikdash lacked that the first one had.

In our tefila during Musaf we say that we will all rejoice because the third Bais HaMikdash will lack nothing and will bring joy to all of Klal Yisroel whose celebration and simcha will know no bounds Bimheira BiYameinu Amein.

Looking For A Good Shidduch?

Eliezer the Eved of Avrohom, dreamed that his daughter would marry Yitzchok. Eliezer was no slouch, as he was the top talmid of Avrohom Avinu. He was called Damesek Eliezer because he drew the Torah from the wellsprings of Avrohom and gave others to drink. Nevertheless when he approached his master Avrohom with his shidduch proposal, Avrohom said that it would be impossible! Eliezer came from Cham who is “Arur” and Avrohom came from Shem who is “Baruch”. An Arur can never make a shidduch with a Baruch.

“Arur Makei Rei’eihu B’seser.” The Torah curses someone who speaks Lashon Hara not only with the above curse but another two more curses apply to him. If you are looking for a shidduch and you are an Arur, don’t expect to find a Baruch. Your grandfather Avrohom said that it just can’t happen.

“Zachor Eis Asher Asa Hashem L’Miriam BaDerech B’Tzaischem MiMitzrayim”

The Ramban and other Rishonim count, among the Mitzvos Aseh Min HaTorah, the mitzva of remembering and saying with your mouth each day what Hashem did to Miriam when she spoke about her brother Moshe. The Chofetz Chaim in Shaar Tvunah Perek 12 says that being Mikayem this mitzva can save you from the aveira of Lashon Hara. More than just saying the pasuk, says the Chofetz Chaim, one must think about the incident in order for it to have its intended effect.

The Daily Shmiras Ainayim Chizuk 2nd Av 5769

The Daily Shmiras Ainayim Chizuk – 2nd Av, 5769

GuardUrEyes

GuardUrEyes

A website for Jews struggling to maintain their moral purity in today’s world

Why is Sexual purity so important in Judaism? Our sages called Shmiras Habris “Yesod”, meaning “Foundation”. The foundation of a building is “underground” and no one sees it, yet it holds up the entire building! Shmiras Habris is the hidden part of a Jew, it’s the real you. If the foundation of a Jew is weak, his whole spiritual structure is fragile and in grave danger of collapse. At guardureyes.com we are finally joining together, for ourselves and for all future generations, to strengthen the foundations of our people!

There is a lot of material out there on the subject of guarding the eyes and the Bris, but sometimes “too much” is overwhelming.
A little bit each day is just right, to be able to read, digest and apply it to our lives.

The booklet “Windows to the Soul” by R’ Zvi Miller of the Salant foundation, is a MAN’S PRACTICAL GUIDE TO MASTERING HIS EYES. (Right click the link and choose “Save Target/Link As” to save the PDF booklet to your computer). To subscribe to eMussar, the daily lessons of the Salant Foundation, send email to salant@netvision.net.il

The Zohar compares this world to a churning ocean and the body of a man to a ship in the sea. Therefore, man requires knowledge in order to guide himself on a straight course, avoiding mishap and losing his way. The ocean of life roars fearfully and continuously. The winds of challenge blow and the negative impulse rips about like a tornado with unimaginable force. All of life comprises great and endless tests, which can easily capsize the ship and sink it into the murky, nethermost depths.

Yirat Shamayim and the study of Mussar will prevent the body from sinking into the miry depths of desire and corrupt character traits.
(Rabbi Yitzchak Blazer, Ohr Yisrael)

Today’s Shmiras Ainayim Chizuk

Training The Eye (Part 2)

Since keeping our eyes lowered is not the norm, we need to accustom ourselves to our new eye position. The best way to change an old habit is to consciously practice a new behavior. Over time, the new pattern of behavior will become second nature.

In the last post, we brought an exercise that was designed to help you readjust the level of your gaze. We bring another exercise here called “Focused vision”.

Just as an army practices their battle plans before going into the heat of the battle, we recommend practicing these exercises when you have a few spare moments.

Exercise #2: “Focused Vision”

The eyes are extremely curious. Here is an effective exercise that trains us to realize that we can fully participate in life without seeing every detail occurring in front of us.

Explain to your family or friends that you are going to close your eyes for a few minutes.

Close your eyes, and experience the events and conversations without seeing them.

Be conscious of how much you are aware of what is happening, even without seeing.

TODAY: Begin practicing your two new exercises and know you are performing an important Mitzvah.

Practical Application

At first, these exercises might seem unnecessary but they are very helpful. I found that if I did them just one time, they helped me keep my eyes under control. I did them for a few days – and it just takes few minutes for each one. These exercises showed me how curious the eyes are, and how easy they are to control through making a conscious effort. Now, I do them once a week or whenever I feel I need a tune up.

Daily Writings on Kabbalah and Torah 2nd Av 5769

Daily Writings on Kabbalah and Torah – 2nd Av, 5769

True Kabbalah org

Everyone has different abilities depending on the tribe they represent. Let us all unify and work together in the battle against the Sitra Acher.

WISDOM CAN ONLY BE LOWERED TO A CERTAIN POINT – IF YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND IT READ IT OVER TWO THREE TIMES AND THINK ABOUT IT

Tikun Hbris (Rectifying the sin of spilling seed) – Part 2

#  As we mentioned before wasting seed causes a lot of damage in the spiritual worlds and has many physical manifestation.
#  Stopping is the first step however many rectifications (tikunim) must now be made.
#  Note the more tikunim a person does the better he will feel.
#  Many seforim (holy books) describe tikunim for this sin, however many of them are extremely harsh and not meant for this weak generation.
#  Also note these tikunim can also help a person to stop being pogem, they can remove a lot of the temptations and sexual thoughts.

#  The most important tikun is to say Tikun Klali every day.
#  Tikun Klali is composed of ten chapters of Tehilim meant to rectify the damage.
#  Chapters 16, 32, 41, 42, 59, 77, 90, 105, 137, 150.
#  Every chapter of Tahilim has a different power, R’ Nachman of Breslev reveled the ten rectifying the bris.
#  It is very powerful tikun, many sages died early for trying to find and reveal this mystery.
#  It takes around ten minutes to say. Reading it even without understanding the words is still a powerful rectification.
#  R’ Nachman said if one says Tikun Klali and goes to the mikvah on the day he had a mikreh lylah, he has nothing to worry about.
#  Tikun Klali also rectifies all sins to some extent and is said by Breslevers every day.

#  Fasting is a very important tikun. If one can not handle fasting try fasting half a day or eating less then you normally do.
#  Fasting during Shovavim (Mon and Thr Shmos- Mishpatim) works very good.
#  The basic kavanah for a fast is as follows … One should meditate that the blood and fat being consumed by body activities, instead of food should be in place of the korbnos (sacrifices) that a person would normally have to bring.

#  Going to the mikvah is an important part of the purification process.
#  If you can, go every day, if this is not possible try to go at least on erev shabbot.
#  One who has a mikreh liylah (nocturnal emission) or was pogem heaven forbid, must go to the mikvah as soon as possible.
#  The basic kavanos for the mikvah are… First dip remove the tumah (impurity) have in mind that you are cleaning your soul in the mikvah. Second dip have in mind to bring in kedusha (holiness).
#  On erev shabbot dip in a third time for the honor of shabbot. Have in mind to prepare yourself for receiving the influx of the additional shabbot soul.
#  If one can, meditate on the following divine names while under water (do not pronounce them) Chet Bais Vav. Vav Vav Lamed. Bais Yud Tes. If you can try to visualize them.
#  When one enters the mikvah the chitzonyim (outside forces) have no control over him. All his demons fly away. The longer a person stays under water the more he weakens them.

#  Saying shemah before going to sleep not only rectifies his sins it also protects a person from the sexual demons while sleeping.
#  There are a number of references including the double edged sward, the sixty warriors and the whole yoshev bisaser… have these kavanos.
#  If one wakes up at night and feels demons around say “impure ones, impure ones leave now” three times. Also try to wash and say over the first verse of shema.

#  One should do hisbodidute, pray spontaneously to G-D.
#  This should be done every day on any subject, however one who was pogem should also pray to G-D to forgive him and destroy the demons he created.
#  If one can, he should try to cry as he prays.

#  An important kavanah for tikun habris is done in the amida.
#  When one reaches the blessing about the “dispersed of yisroel” have in mind to gather all the sparks of holiness that you sent into the klipah.
#  Taking the second last letters of the words ychad marba knfos forms the divine name Chet Bais Vav (do not pournounce it).
#  Meditate on this name and pray that the damage you made be rectified.
#  Kanfos also has the gimatryah (numerical equivalence) of tikun.

#  Like any other sin the biggest rectification is to stop other people from committing the same sin.
#  Try to get other people to stop, do it in a way that won’t embarrass anyone.
#  When you try to stop and rectify your sins there will be crazy opposition from the sitra achrah, demons don’t enjoy being killed. Be strong.
#  If you start then mess up don’t worry, start again. Never give up.

“In regard to a number of a person’s needs, such as his livelihood, or to various difficulties that a person might be in, the Rebbe [Rabbi Pinhas of Koretz] would instruct him to say the whole Book of Psalms, from beginning to end, without a break”; one should not even break to say the customary Yehi Ratzons after each part of the work but must say these prayers at the end of the recitation.*

Rabbi Nachman Sayings and Teachings 2nd Av 5769

Rabbi Nachman’s – Sayings & Teachings – From The Essential Rabbi Nachman

Azamra org - Torah for Our Time

A treasury of sayings, teachings, parables and stories by the outstanding Chassidic sage, mystic and visionary, Rabbi Nachman of Breslov (1772-1810), whose message of faith, hope, courage, simplicity and joy is essential to each one of us and essential to the whole world.

Translated by Avraham Greenbaum

KNOWING G-D – Eternal life

G-d alone has eternal life because He lives to eternity. Yet a person who is merged with his root – namely with G-d – also lives to eternity. Being merged in G-d’s oneness he lives eternally, like G-d. Likewise, only G-d has perfection, and besides Him all are lacking. Yet one who is merged with G-d has complete perfection.

In essence, the way to merge with G-d is through knowing Him, as the sage said: “If I knew Him, I would be Him”. For man’s essence is his mind. Wherever a person’s mind and thoughts are , that is where the entire person is. Thus one who attains knowledge and understanding of G-d is literally in that place. The greater one’s knowledge, the more one becomes absorbed in the root: G-d.

No matter what a person lacks, be it livelihood, children, health or anything else, it is only because of a lack of G-dly knowledge and awareness. Some people lack all knowledge of G-d yet appear to enjoy the best of everything. But in truth everything they have is nothing. Conversely, when one who possesses complete knowledge lacks something, this lack is truly nothing, for “If you have acquired knowledge, what do you lack, and if you lack knowledge, what have you acquired? ” (Nedarim 41a). All completeness or lack of completeness depends on one’s depth of G-dly knowledge and awareness.

Anger and cruelty result from a lack of G-dly knowledge and awareness, for “anger rests in the lap of fools” (Ecclesiastes 7:9) . This is why a sick person is prone to anger, being subject to stern judgments, which take the form of constricted consciousness, making him angry.

However, in time to come G-dly knowledge and awareness will be revealed and all will know G-d, “for the earth will be full of the knowledge of G-d … ” (Isaiah 11:9) . Accordingly anger will then no longer exist, “and the wolf shall dwell with the lamb and the leopard with the kid… and the cow and the bear shall feed… they shall not do evil and they shall not destroy, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of G-d … ” ( ibid. 6-9 ) . At present it is impossible for them to live together because of anger. But in time to come they will be able to live together because the anger will no longer exist on account of the knowledge which will then be revealed.

Likutey Moharan I, 21

Rabbi Nachman of Breslov
“It is a great mitzvah to be happy.”

Avodah Perek Shira 2nd Av 5769

Perek Shira – 2nd Av, 5769

RevachL'Neshama

Perek Shira

Perek Shira: The Cows Also Miss The Bais HaMikdash

The Shira of the large kosher animals is “Harninu Leilokim Uzeinu Hari’u Leilokei Yaakov”, sing aloud to Hashem our strength; blast joyful sounds to Hashem of Yaakov. This pasuk is from Tehilim 81, and it is the Perek we say on Yom Chamishi as the Shir Shel Yom.

The Vilna Gaon writes in the name of the Zohar that the world will exist for 6000 years corresponding to the days of the week. The Shira we say each day of the week corresponds to those thousand years. That means that the Shir of Yom Chamishi corresponds to the Jewish year 4000-5000 (roughly from the years 240-1240 CE).

The Shiras Meir points out that these one thousand years were after the Churban Bais HaMikdash and there were no Korbanos. The gemara Taanis 27b says that Hashem promised Avrohom that when there will be no Bais HaMikdash, Hashem will accept our Tefilos in place of Korbanos.

Similarly say the Shiras Meir, the kosher animals are also missing out. During the time of the Bais HaMikdash they were brought up LiRatzon on the Mizbei’ach. In the 1000 years corresponding to Yom Chamishi there was no mizbei’ach. Therefore they sing to Hashem in lieu of being brought for a Korban.

May we be zocheh to Bi’as HaMoshiach and the Binyan Bais HaMikdash where both Am Yisroel and the kosher animals will once again participate in the Avodas HaKorban to Hashem.

Tikun Habris is the most important topic to discuss in this low generation, and no one is dealing with it.

If you are Jewish then you are part of the Holy nation. Have mercy on your holy soul and stop blemishing it with the sin of wasting seed. Take heed of what the kabbalah says and stop committing this sin of wasting seed.

These are only the basic references about Tikun Hbris. The torahs have a lot more about this topic. We strongly suggest that everyone learn Likutay Maharan.

Todays eMussar Lesson 1st Av 5769

Todays eMussar Lesson

eMussar – The Wisdom of Personal Growth
A daily inspirational, concise idea, with a suggested action.

Today 1st Av, 5769 – eMussar Lesson –
To Love Your Friend

PIRKEI AVOS\THE ETHICS OF OUR FATHERS 2:17

Rabbi Yosi said: Let your fellow’s “money” be as dear to you as your own.

When HaShem delivered B’nai Yisrael from Egypt, they went out with “great wealth.” The Arizal reveals the hidden level of this verse, i.e., “they went out with great spiritual wealth.” That is there souls were illuminated with the holiness and purity of the Shechinah – the Divine Presence.

Similarly, the passage “Let your fellow’s money be as dear to you as your own,” refers to his “spiritual wealth.” In this light, Rabbi Yosi urges us to value the spirituality of your friend as much as your own.

The following remarkable incident sheds light on how we can accomplish this important task: Rabbi Eliezer Gordon was the Rosh Yeshiva of Telz. Conversing with a guest who had come to visit the Yeshiva, Rabbi Gordon pointed to one student and said, “He is my only son.” He then pointed to another student and said, “He is my only son.” After he repeated this regarding a third boy, the visitor said, “How can you have three only sons?”
With a warm smile, Rabbi Gordon replied, “I love each one of my students as if he is my only son!”

Each person has a holy and wise soul. Yet, just as a plant needs sunlight and water to grow; so too, our companions need encouragement and love to maximize their inner potential.

May we recognize and value the spiritual preciousness of our family members and friends – and inspire them to strive for new levels of goodness, wisdom, and holiness.
[Based on the commentary of the Chidah to Pirkei Avos]

TODAY: Using a healthy dose of friendliness and warmth – encourage others to grow.

Dreaming Quote

Living a Dream

We need to have a dream and believe its truth. We need to see our dream as real, and – more importantly – as affecting the type of person we become. Thus, we live our dream right now.

The HEART OF PRAYER 1st Av 5769

THE HEART OF PRAYER – 1st Av, 5769

The Baal Shem Tov Times

The Baal Shem Tov’s Teachings on Prayer

Section 3.6

Strengthen yourself before praying by first reciting psalms or studying Torah.

Strengthen yourself before praying so that you will, at least, have no foreign thoughts, and [ideally, will pray] with devekus. You can do this by first reciting psalms or studying Torah, and then pray amidst those words. This will give you presence of mind.1 On the other hand, for some people, saying a lot of Psalms or studying Torah decreases their ability to concentrate. Thus, it says: “One gives a lot and another a little, as long as a person’s heart is directed to heaven.” (Menachos 110a, Berachos 5b) – that is, as long as the person has the consciousness to pray, in which case, they are equal.
Unknown Chassidic Source

1 Literally, “Then he will have mohin – mentalities,” a kabbalistic term for states of consciousness: mohin d’gadlus, “expanded consciousness,” or mohin d’katnus, “constricted consciousness.”

Daily Wisdom Portion of Kabbalah 1st Av 5769

Daily Wisdom Portion of Kabbalah – 1st Av, 5769

The Wisdom of Kabbalah

Quotes of prominent Kabbalists

And he reasons all that “the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea (Isaiah 11, 9)”. Thus we see that the prophet conditions peace in the whole world with the filling of the whole world with the knowledge of G-d, just as we have said that the tough, egoistic resistance between people, along with deterioration in the international relationships, all these will not cease from the world by any human counsel under any conditions.

Our eyes can see how the poor sick turn over in dreadful pain, and humanity has already thrown itself to the extreme right as with Germany or to the extreme left, as with Russia, and not only did they not ease the pain, they have worsened the malady and agony and the voices rise up to the sky as we all know.

Therefore they have no counsel but to come to the acceptance of His burden, meaning that they aim their acts to the will of the Lord and to His purpose, as He had planned prior to creation. And when they do that, it is plain to see that with His work all envy and hatred will be abolished from mankind as I have shown above thus far, because then all members of humanity will unite into one body with one heart full of the knowledge of the Lord. Thus, world peace and the knowledge of G-d are one and the same thing.

Today 1st Av 5769 Little Mitzvos

Today 1st Av, 5769 – “Little Mitzvos

Tefilla

For the first paragraph of the Sh’monei Esrei, concentrate on Hashem’s Name that He is Master Of All, and is, was and will be.
