Let us all unify and work together in the battle against the Sitra Acher.

WISDOM CAN ONLY BE LOWERED TO A CERTAIN POINT – IF YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND IT READ IT OVER TWO THREE TIMES AND THINK ABOUT IT

The attribute of Yesod Shbateferet

You look at an object how it appears in the overall system of scientific reality as opposed to the way it relates to you.
-   Meaning, you remove your ego and essence out of the picture.
-   Yackov was very busy trying to perfect this trait.
-   This is the reason why Yackov never saw Kerie (nocturnal emission).
-   When one looks in everything as it is, as an essence by itself, how it fits into the whole picture, then he won’t be excited by something that is not connected to him.
-   Meaning if you leave your essence out, then only your soul mate is of interest to you. In the overall picture other women have nothing to do with you, therefore they won’t excite you.
-   This is also why he had to run away from Esav. He could not have claimed that he stole the blessing and bechora (first born rights) without any selfish purpose.
-   Once he perfected Yesed ShbaTiferet he was able to deal with this issue. He was now able to look at what happened as that if it had to happen in the over all system and not because of his personal needs.

Rabbi Nachman’s – Sayings & Teachings – From The Essential Rabbi Nachman

Azamra org - Torah for Our Time

A treasury of sayings, teachings, parables and stories by the outstanding Chassidic sage, mystic and visionary, Rabbi Nachman of Breslov (1772-1810), whose message of faith, hope, courage, simplicity and joy is essential to each one of us and essential to the whole world.

Translated by Avraham Greenbaum

SERVING G-D – Stocking up on credits

A storekeeper will sell on credit, allowing the buyer to pay later.

Why not do the same with spiritual goods? Say a few Psalms, learn some Torah or carry out some other mitzvot so that they are put aside ready for some time of need.

The time will indeed come when you will need them. You will then be able to make use of your reward without having to ask the storekeeper for credit.

Sichot Haran #271

Rabbi Nachman of Breslov
“It is a great mitzvah to be happy.”

Perek Shira: The Frog – The Symbol of Kiddush Hashem

Rav Yechiel Michel Stern in the Nishmas Kol Chai points out that we find time and time again the frogs taking up their mission for Hashem fearlessly without any concern for their own death. By the Maka of tzefardei’a we find frogs jumping into burning ovens. Then we find in the medrash, when Hashem wanted to kill a person in Eiver HaYarden with a scorpion who couldn’t swin across the Yarden, the frog carried the dangerous scorpion across without worrying that the scorpion will bite him. In the Hakdama of Perek Shira we find the frog offering himself as food for a species that lives on the edge of the river that eats frogs. The frog doesn’t run. He makes himself readily available to fulfill the Tzivui Hashem.

To have a moment of clarity and be Moseir Nefesh is a great thing. Once you have earned your wings and still come out alive, you may be more reluctant to take your chances again the next time. Not so with the frogs. Their whole essence is Kiddush Hashem, over and over again. They sing day and night and don’t ever stop croaking. What are they croaking? The song of complete Mesiras Nefesh to the great King, “Boruch Shem Kevod Malchuso L’Olam Va’ed.” Hashem’s Kingdon is blessed for all eternity.

Sefer Baal Shem Tov – 15th Tammuz, 5769

Sefer Baal Shem Tov

The Baal Shem Tov Times

The Baal Shem Tov’s Teachings on the Torah

And he took up his parable, and said: This is the word of Bilaam the son of Beor, and the saying of the man with the blinded eye. (Numbers 24:3)

. . . . . this is the saying of the man who sees well. (Targum Unkelos )

I heard in the name of the Baal Shem Tov the meaning of this Targum. The Midrash asks why G-d chose to rest His Presence on such a wicked Gentile as [Bilaam]? And it answers, so that the Gentile nations will not have any allegation [against G-d], saying “Had you given us prophets, we too would have improved our ways.”1

It is known, though, that the attainment of prophecy requires very great holiness. Now, a person has five senses: sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. These correspond to five spiritual senses, as it is written: “My heart has seen much wisdom” (Ecclesiastes 1:17), “You have given to Your servant a listening heart” (I Kings 3:9), “And he shall smell with the fear of G-d” (Isaiah 11:3).

And likewise with the other senses.2 When a person purifies and sanctifies his external [physical] sense, holiness rests upon his spiritual ones, and the spirit of prophecy descends upon him.

But the wicked Bilaam was the opposite of this. He defiled all of his physical senses, as our Rabbis said, that he practiced bestiality with his donkey.3 In addition, he was a necromancer, a diviner, a sorcerer, and a soothsayer. How was it possible for prophecy to have rested upon him? It was not possible! And yet, it was extremely necessary for him to become a prophet, so that the nations of the world could not have a claim [against G-d], “You rejected us!” But the matter was still very difficult, for there was no idea what could be done with him. What did G-d do? He blinded him in one of his eyes, and because he could not sin with that eye, holiness and prophecy rested upon it.

The Targum reveals this to us by translating “blinded eye” as “who sees well.” That is, because he was blind in one of his eyes, he was able to see well with prophetic vision. But had he not been blind in that eye, there would not have been any way for prophecy to rest upon him.

Rebbi Akiva Eiger – A Trick To Avoid Forgetting Things

There are a number of activities that Chazal say make you forget. Some say that these activities don’t make you forget but they prevent you from learning and absorbing Torah. For a more detailed list see Revach Lists. One of the things listed is putting on two articles of clothing at the same time. The Aruch HaShulchan says that this does not apply to shoes (although there are halachos how to put on shoes).

What happens if for whatever reason you did one of these activities but you do not want to suffer the consequences. Rebbi Akiva Eiger (YD 376) provide the answer. He says you should say the bracha of Ahava Rabba which is said before Shema in the morning without saying the bracha at the end.(see also Shearim Metzuyanim B’Halacha 3:3)

Important Note: We try to convey the Tshuva to the best of our ability. We admit that our understanding may not be accurate. One should learn the tshuva to verify the accuracy of our interpretation. Please also understand that this Tshuva may not be the final word on this topic. One should consult a Rav before drawing any conclusions.

Zechiras Miriam

A Health Tip

Rebbi Shimon Ben Gamliel said, “All my life I have grown up among wise men and I have not found anything better for my body than silence.” (Avos 1:17) He doesn’t say that silence is good for his neshama or his peace of mind. He says it is good for his physical well being. Think about it!

“Zachor Eis Asher Asa Hashem L’Miriam BaDerech B’Tzaischem MiMitzrayim”

The Ramban and other Rishonim count, among the Mitzvos Aseh Min HaTorah, the mitzva of remembering and saying with your mouth each day what Hashem did to Miriam when she spoke about her brother Moshe. The Chofetz Chaim in Shaar Tvunah Perek 12 says that being Mikayem this mitzva can save you from the aveira of Lashon Hara. More than just saying the pasuk, says the Chofetz Chaim, one must think about the incident in order for it to have its intended effect.

This Week’s Article – Ball of Fire

This Week’s Article

Ball of Fire

By Rabbi Avraham Tzvi Schwartz

Repeating inspiring words empowers us. Similarly, creating different pictures in our minds inspires us.

To see the name of the Creator before our eyes is good advice given to us by our sages.* To make this work for us — to make it more real, more electric — depends on us.

We can for instance imagine the letters of this holy name in revolving colors or textures. We can watch it hover over the world, in changing settings, forests, oceans, mountains, valleys, etc.

Then we can envision it embedded in a ball of fire, appearing and disappearing as the flames shoot out. This vision matches the Torah’s own imagery that describes the Creator as “a burning fire.”**

Let’s try as an exercise to have such a ball of fire in our minds, allowing it to fill us with light, warmth and lofty aspirations. Let’s hold it in our consciousness to such an extent, that we ourselves become balls of fire.

Daily Wisdom Portion of Kabbalah – 15th Tammuz, 5769

Daily Wisdom Portion of Kabbalah – 15th Tammuz, 5769

The Wisdom of Kabbalah

“Love thy friend as thyself.” Rabbi Akiva says this is a great rule in the Torah Collective and Individual

The Love for the Creator & Love for the Created BeingsWhy Was the Torah Not Given to the Patriarchs?

That answers the first three questions. But there still remains the question how is it possible to keep it, for it is seemingly impossible. You should know that that is why the Torah was not given to the Patriarchs, but to their children’s children, who were a complete nation, consisting of 600,000 men from 20 years of age and on. They received it after having been asked if each and every one of them were willing to take upon himself this work and this sublime goal.

After each and every one said, “We shall hear and we shall do” it became possible. That is because undoubtedly, if 600,000 men have no other interest in life but to stand guard and see that no need is left unsatisfied in their friends, and they even do it lovingly, with all their soul and all their might, there is absolutely no doubt that there will not be a need in any person in the nation to care for his own sustenance. That is because he will have 600,000 loving and loyal people making sure not a single need is left unsatisfied.

Thus we answer the question why was the Torah not given to our holy patriarchs. That is because in a small group of people the Torah cannot be observed. It is impossible to begin the work of Lishma, as it is described above. Because of that the Torah was not given to them.

You may think, how does one little Mitzvo help . . .

Our times are calling out to us to do Teshuva, but it’s too hard for us to change our lives. Even when we try, we end up reverting back to nothing, everything as was. We MUST show HaShem that we are seeing the signs and that it means something to us.

In this way, when HaShem asks what did we did, we can reply “I took this on…”

You must not consider this “Little Mitzvos” as a replacement for the Shulchan Oruch – you must continue learning Halochos via mainstream Seforim and with Shiurim.

The Daily Shmiras Ainayim Chizuk – 15th Tammuz, 5769

The Daily Shmiras Ainayim Chizuk – 15th Tammuz, 5769

GuardUrEyes

GuardUrEyes

A website for Jews struggling to maintain their moral purity in today’s world

Why is Sexual purity so important in Judaism? Our sages called Shmiras Habris “Yesod”, meaning “Foundation”. The foundation of a building is “underground” and no one sees it, yet it holds up the entire building! Shmiras Habris is the hidden part of a Jew, it’s the real you. If the foundation of a Jew is weak, his whole spiritual structure is fragile and in grave danger of collapse. At guardureyes.com we are finally joining together, for ourselves and for all future generations, to strengthen the foundations of our people!

There is a lot of material out there on the subject of guarding the eyes and the Bris, but sometimes “too much” is overwhelming.
A little bit each day is just right, to be able to read, digest and apply it to our lives.

Today’s Shmiras Ainayim Chizuk

The Zohar compares this world to a churning ocean and the body of a man to a ship in the sea. Therefore, man requires knowledge in order to guide himself on a straight course, avoiding mishap and losing his way. The ocean of life roars fearfully and continuously. The winds of challenge blow and the negative impulse rips about like a tornado with unimaginable force. All of life comprises great and endless tests, which can easily capsize the ship and sink it into the murky, nethermost depths.

Yirat Shamayim and the study of Mussar will prevent the body from sinking into the miry depths of desire and corrupt character traits.
(Rabbi Yitzchak Blazer, Ohr Yisrael)

FIRST STEP SOLUTION

The first line of defense for controlling our eyes and heart is Torah study. The Rambam explains that the heart only occupies itself with one thought at a time. If a man’s heart is left to its own meanderings, it invariably gravitates towards impure thoughts. However, if the heart is occupied with Torah, it will be filled with holy thoughts. Therefore, Torah study is indispensible to gaining mastery over improper inclinations.

The positive thoughts stimulated by Torah study will empower us with the capability to serve Hashem.

TODAY: Dedicate daily time to Torah study and set up the first line of defense to mastering your eyes.

Practical Application

Steve is excited about the progress he is making in controlling his eyes and he knows there are many more tools and techniques that will help him even more.

“Rabbi Stern is starting a new class on Pirkei Avot right after Shacharit. It last for twenty minutes and is geared for businessmen who have a full day ahead of them. I am going to start attending – this will help me focus on Torah thoughts throughout my day.”

WISDOM CAN ONLY BE LOWERED TO A CERTAIN POINT – IF YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND IT READ IT OVER TWO THREE TIMES AND THINK ABOUT IT

Regarding the many wives of Shlomo

-   After the breaking of the vessels (Shvirat Hkalim) sparks were spread all over.
-   Through doing physical actions one can gather these sparks.
-   One of the points of galus (diaspora) is to spread jews all over the world to gather these sparks from the nations.
-   Of course if one is conscious of what he is doing and meditates, his actions will have a much bigger effect.
-   Shlomo knew this was a big job, he therefore started it in order to lower the time and hardship of Galus.
-   He married the princesses of every nation, removed the energy from that nation and returned it to the side of holiness.
-   By meditating on the action, he accomplished what he accomplished.
-   Most of the women were used once then placed in the hiram never to be used again.
-   The ones used more often were because there were bigger rectifications to be done over there.
